About Punjab Police:

The Police Order of 2002 established the Punjab Police, which is subject to the Police Rules of 1934. Lahore’s Central Police Office (CPO) includes the Legal Affairs Division (Legal Branch), Finance and Welfare, Operations, Training, and Research and Development, among others. The branches submit reports to the Inspector General of Police via their Additional Inspectors General of Police. Regional Police Officers do not report to the Chief Police Officer of Punjab but rather to the Inspector General of Police.

The British administration replaced zamindars with magistrates, who had dargahs and other subordinate personnel. Madras Regulation XI of 1816 abolished the dargah system in Madras and appointed tehsildars to handle both police and tax duties.

1827’s Bombay Regulation XII instituted a similar system in that city. Because Bengal did not have a subordinate revenue organization, the system of dargahs was not gotten rid of. However, in 1811, some of their cognizance powers were taken away, which made them less powerful.
